It has been exactly ten years since the Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class made its showroom debut. Sales of the compact roadster exceeded all expectations, and the SLK sold out shortly after its market launch, prompting Mercedes to increase production capacity significantly. More than 311,000 units of the first-generation SLK-Class were produced between autumn 1996 and March 2004. To date, Mercedes-Benz has produced some 148,000 units of the current SLK-Class.
