Just a few comments about my impression:

Dodge has entered the German market with the Caliber. Next model will be the Avenger, but you can’t compete with Passat & Co. without a diesel and a wagon option. For a reasonable price the Avenger Touring could be a success.

For the U.S. market a coupé version would be more appropriate.

If DCX has such great quality then why has my family’s Pacifica had more problems then a Korean car from the 80’s? It has 24,000 miles on it, the power steering has failed, it burns oil (we keep it changed on a 3,000 mile schedule), it has rusted, among many other problems. DCX = crap.

I’d give the nod to a Chrysler product before I settled on a GM product. This one would be a strong seller with little competition. And it looks great.

“Sense it’s made by DCX, it’s crap in terms of quality”? Souldn’t it be “since”? Also, DCX’s quality ratings are middle of the road, neither poor nor great. But some products (like the PT Cruiser) have excellent quality, so there is hope for the Sebring/Avenger.

If its still powered by that crappy 3.5l then this is a no go. It will even lose to a fusion in terms of power.

However if there is going to be an SRT version with the caliber’s 300HP and AWD, then you can count me in.

Quit making wagons, please. The auto industry doesn’t need anymore lameness. My grandmother drove a station wagon, why on earth would I ever consider that cool? Hatchbacks are a better answer.The only cool wagon, and I use cool in a loose sense, is an Audi.

But the Advenger was ugly and sense it’s made by DCX, it’s crap in terms of quality. Why would the wagon be any better?

GM already did a Malibu wagon in the Malibu Maxx. It’s being discontinued, but there is talk of a new one coming in 08 or 09.

Great idea… I think this will have a bigger market than the Magnum (which comes across too big).

I am a big detractor to the mini-Charger sedan but as a driver of a V50 and big proponent of turbos in wagons versus SUV’s, this could be a big hit.

Will GM do a Malibu wagon or will Ford do a Fusion wagon if the segment grows?
