Abarth is best known for producing hotter versions of Fiat models, but the Italian tuner has announced that it will soon turn its attention to some Alfa Romeo products.
Speaking with Autocar, Abarth sales and marketing head Antonino Labate revealed that the tuner is currently working on plans to offer performance products for some Alfa Romeo vehicles.
“The brand is doing so well that we plan to start producing more performance kits for Fiats, and even some Alfa Romeo models,†he told Autocar. “We won’t be working with the Mito since Alfa already has the Cloverleaf, but there are lots of other possibilities.â€
In addition to massaging Alfas, Abarth is also planning the brands first standalone model in 30 years. Labate recently denied the project was being co-developed with Lotus, but the end result is expected to be a legitimated rival for the Mazda MX-5.
