Acura’s all-new CUV [Spied again]

Although SUV sales are tanking, crossover utility vehicles are just coming into their own. Moreover, sport CUVs – such as Infiniti’s FX and BMW’s X6 – are becoming increasingly popular. Apparently Acura has caught onto this trend as spy photographers have once again spotted a new crossover from Honda’s luxury brand while out testing.

This still-unnamed prototype was spotted earlier today, and witnesses are speculating - contrary to the camouflaged disguise - that this will have so-called coupe-like styling, just like the aforementioned CUVs.

We believe this CUV may be riding on the same chassis as the 2009 TL. This would probably mean similar, if not identical, powertrain setups.

It was reported earlier this year that Acura is planning to expand its lineup, and this new CUV could be just the first step in that plan.

If it’s on the TL chassis, it’s an US Accord. Not saying that’s bad.

Nice to know crApura is hiding that grill. I would too.

This is EU license plate. Street looks like Germany, although signs are very blurry. To me it looks like a either hatchback or sloped wagon (what the difference?). It may be AWD hatch for Europe, not even for our market.

If this is b/o the U.S. Accord, then doesn’t that make this another MDX?
I thought that MDX was based on the same thing Pilot was, and Pilot is based on the Accord.. unless all this changed and I’m a whole generation behind. Or I was wrong the entire time.
Eh. I don’t really care.

Just make it look like the CURRENT MDX, not the TL, will ya, Honda?

Not another one. HONDA: The Euro Accord is the US TSX. Can’t you just bring over the Accord Estate (wagon) as a TSX with a little more juice and the SH-AWD already. You don’t need an X6 fighter when MDX and RDX sales are going soft.
