Acura says that its new sub-TSX compact sedan will be assembled at Honda’s Greensburg, Indiana, assembly plant.

The Southern Indiana plant, located about halfway between Indianapolis and Cincinnati, will begin churning out Acura ILXs early next spring.

While little is known about the ILX, the decision to build it in Greensburg adds further credence to the rumor that it will share a platform with the Honda Civic. Currently, Honda offers a thinly-disguised Civic as the Acura CSX in Canada, but it’s expected that the ILX will be better differentiated from its pedestrian cousin.

Honda opened the Greensburg plant in 2008 to build its Civic sedan primarily for North American markets.

It’s unclear if Honda will look to add another shift with more workers to the Greensburg facility; earlier this year, Honda hired about 1,000 workers to build Civics for a second assembly shift.
