Acura confirms TSX sport wagon for 2011

10/28/2009, 2:16 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Acura says it will introduce a wagon version of its entry-level TSX sedan in 2010 as a 2011 model. Based on the European-market Honda Accord wagon, which also serves as the basis for the TSX, the wagon will arrive in Acura dealerships in less than a year.

The official announcement comes just two months after an Acura executive hinted that the company was considering – or mulling – a sporty Acura cargo hauler.

Details are spotty at the moment, but the official release from Acura indicates that “additional information on the 2011 TSX sport wagon will be announced at a later date.” We’d expect few styling changes from the European-market Accord wagon (pictured).

The wagon will slot below the recently-introduced ZDX crossover/tall wagon in the luxury division’s lineup. Expect powertrain and feature specifications to essentially mirror the sedan, which recently received its first V6 engine for the North American market.

Bring it to the US as a Honda, not Acura. Why wants to pay 8K more for an acura badge?

Once the Crosstour shows up there will be no room on Honda lots for any new models, that’s why this has to be an Acura. Oh… not because there will be so many of them, but rather they’ll never be able to get rid of the ones they have.

Thank you A4,
And for those who have been asking for it, there you have, let’s see if now you’ll really serious about buying it. The problem is now they are going to bitch about it not being AWD, and no Diesel, where is the turbo version, the grille’s still too ugly.

i like the old tsx, and i think it’s pretty ridiculous to say it was 8k overpriced…the ‘09 msrp is 29-32k or so…the average price of a car today is over 25k…you think a tsx should be 21k? duuumb…

I guess wagons are back in the game now that people want the practicallity of an suv but the fuel economy of a sedan. Im surprised to see how often I spot the new Jetta Sportwagen in the streets.

Let’s withhold final judgement of this wagon until we see the version we’ll actually get. Then we can crap all over it.

Of course, the crap we’ll throw at it won’t hold a candle to what the designers will do. I think Acura’s design team meeting goes like this: everyone goes to the can, grows a collective monkey tail, wipes said massive piece of crap on a blank canvas and then wipes said canvas on whatever clay model happens to be laying around their ‘design’ studios.

I’m glad this is comin. Now all they need is a TSX coupe to properly compete against the CTS line up. Hope this helps boost their sales they really could use it. I’d buy one

As I said before – I drove a current TSX and attempted (unsuccessfully) to buy an 09. It’s an awesome car, and yes, it’s looks are little out there – I would own them BUT… As others have mentioned (and A4 is correct too – people do it, so why not) it’s overpriced. At least it’s a good car though. I’d especially like the wagon.

I actually hope it sells well… forcing Mazda to bring back the 6 wagon. I like sport wagons and large 5 door hatches. Not everyone wants a regular sedan or an SUV for that matter…. or a BLOATED crossover!
Just want a useful sporty wagon that drives like a car and you can REACH the roof rack without a step ladder and doesn’t cost over $30,000!!!!

The new Outback is sadly not a wagon anymore as far as I’m concerned.

I completely agree with that statement. Thank you for posting that.

Anyways….
I don’t think that its overpriced.

Although I will say that the V6 is maybe 1k overpriced, but not 8k.

Lexus IS — $31,845
BMW 3 — $32,850
Audi A4 — $31,450
Acura TSX — $29,310

Cadillac CTS — $36,730
Infiniti G37 — $33,250
Lexus ES — $34,800
Acura TSX V6 — $34,850

So the only one that has the V6 on price is the Infiniti G37.

Those of you who call the TSX overpriced really need to realize that it is the cheapest in its segment.
Call the TSX overpriced and call the whole segment overpriced.

how is 29k overpriced? Audi A4s are about 28k (base model) and this and the A4 are about the same size. Now all Acura needs to do is hurry up and make a coupe version like they were keeping on the DL for IDK how many months/years.

aggie531 – You must be joking comparing a TSX to a G37… And i like both cars alot, they just aren’t in the same class to me. The CTS is in a higher class too, that’s the problem with your list. Apples to Oranges buddy. The Acura is a rebadged European Accord while the others are stand alon luxury cars, all except the A4 is RWD too.

It’s not even comparing sticker price to sticker price, that’s your whole probem!!!! It’s transaction price that should be compared. You can easily get rebates and incentive on most those cars on the list. Take for example the G37, a higher end car, that stickers for 34k can actually be sold to you for 29k. The TSX’s price is pretty much fixed so now we’re talking $5,000 difference.

You can’t ring it over as a Honda Accord wagon because it doesn’t match the American Accord at all and not even in size.

This must be the reason Honda abandoned these nice body panels for the Crosstour and instead grafted some bloated Chrysler Crossfire styling cues on it. They would probably have sold twice as many Accord wagons that looked like that mule than they will the TSX wagon and Crosstour COMBINED.

i just wish they hadn’t made the TSX sedan so much larger and heavier than the last gen Euro/JDM Accord and Acura TSX…… also which they had not make the engine have less potential, with exhaust manifold combined as part of the black, among other slightly weakening “updates” or “enhancements”

10/29, 12:00 PM

posted by:

**exhaust manifold being combined as part of the BLOCK**

-exhaust side of block has one big port rather than 4 ports and a manifold/header
-a plastic intake manifold
- different fuel rail cover

– among other things….
-higher compression–

ok, but does it still have i-VTEC with aggressive cam timing lobes on both intake and exhaust side?
or only intake side like weaker performing models with ‘efficient’ I-VTEC that has no exhaust VTC with lower compression pistions and head, weaker crankshaft and bearings, fewer balance shafts, etc??

what the hell was wrong with the sweet K24a2 !?? why did you have to give it this K24Z3 or whatever ?

or is it just as strong?? any real honda guys on here ??
