General Motors CEO Dan Akerson is getting serious about information leaks to the media. During the company's Thursday employee meeting, Akerson stated that individuals not willing to stay loyal to the company "ought to work somewhere else."

Akerson's harsh words come just days after a report by Bloomberg News revealed the details surrounding the firing of GM marketing head Joel Ewanick. Bloomberg claimed Ewanick was ousted for covering up the actual cost of a $559 million sponsorship deal with Manchester United, which Akerson said "was almost verbatim what happened. That is unfair to anybody whether you think he's right, wrong or in between."

"We have to stop leaking in this company. It's an act of treason "" it really is," Akerson said, according to The Detroit News.

Akerson was also critical of an employee that released a video of the interior of one of the automaker's new trucks.

Since taking over the reins at GM, Akerson has made it a top priority to change the company's corporate culture. Akerson emphasized that position in closing.

"We're a global company that operates as small little fiefdoms. That's got to stop."
