Just last week, Alfa Romeo ’s CEO, Antonio Baravalle stepped down from the position and today comes word of his successor: Luca De Meo will be taking over the Alfa Romeo brand. De Meo recently stepped down as the CEO of Fiat brand to take the position of Chief Marketing Officer for the entire Fiat Group. De Meo will retain that position, as well as heading up the Abarth division.
While CEO of Fiat, De Meo was responsible for the Grande Punto, Bravo and the 500

Baravalle, 42, had been with Fiat — Alfa Romeo ’s parent company — since 1999 and will now become CEO of of Einaudi, the publishing house of Italy’s Mondadori media group.

It was expected that Fiat would choose an internal replacement.

The Fiat Group Automobiles doesn’t report its brands financial standings, but it is believed that Alfa Romeo is its biggest money loser.
