Too futuristic for me. But surely, with Alfa Romeo coming back to the US scene, many consumers would be very much interested.

just to clear this up...the unknown of gravity is simply the particle through which it works...
electricity and magnetism both work through negatively charged electrons...as of yet there has been no discovered particle for gravity...therefore we know it exists, we know its effects and can measure it, but we dont know exactly how it truly works and through what medium.

oh yeah and flying cars would be cool...if everyone had their pilots license

Toy Yoda, it is my obscure belief that Einstein withheld and withdrew much of his knowledge once he finally realized the true nature of man...its the literal equivalent of handing over the keys to an Enzo to a 5-year child - and unfortunately, WE are the child...

10,

Maybe he means we don't ultimately know how gravity works. Newton thought he did, but his theory had to be tweaked by Einstein. It looks likes there's hints that Einstein based gravity might need tweaking too. So ultimately, does science really know what the heck is going on with gravity, probably not.

i think that would be ugly even as a hot wheels toy...
which makes no sense, seeing it lacks wheels...
i think that might have looked futuristic in the early 90s, when the whole jellybean shape was cool...
and the start of the vid looks like a reject infiniti ad...

If I get a flying car I want it to look more like a space ship, not like a car that can fly - I want missiles and gun turrets and such, I also want a time warp drive, and a cheeseburger, no a hamburger, and a milkshake.

Really, so you are sure that they know why gravity works. Because of Mass, right. Thats like saying engines work becasue of gasoline. There is a lot more to it then mass bro. And yes, I have taken a physics class, actually, I've taken several. Are you familiar with wikipedia yourself, if not try this on "While a great deal is now known about the properties of gravity, the ultimate cause of gravitation remains an open question and gravity remains an important topic of scientific research." You could use a little education yourself.
Anyways, this isn't a debate about gravity between you and I. All in all, flying cars are not a great idea. What happens if they break down, you get in an accident, or somebody is talking on their cell phone and don't notice the skyscrapper in front of them.
Under full automation it might make more sense.

Hey all those ideas sound wonderful, implementing them is something else. Maglev highways could be one way to do it I guess, however they would have to be monitored and the systems helping drive the vehicles would definately have to be top shape to make sure some idiot doesn't take out people going 300mph!

How else does one contributer to the era of software over original thinking than this, another remix collection of everything done before?
Blade Runner did it better with models and wires and will be remembered much longer than this, another computer reheated leftover.

#8- Are you kidding me? "Scientists dont know why or how gravity works"?? Scientists DO know why and how gravity works- have you ever taken a physics class in your life?? obviously not. Here's a hint, it's got to do with MASS! Go to Wikipedia and study before blogging crap online! You'll even find videos on youtube about anti-gravity experiments involving inert gases and magnetized metals. And like #10 said, the technology is out there already. Japan has had a Maglev train since the early 90s.

germany has magnetic trains that litlerally levitate on the rails and goe over 300 mph easy they should just do a railway liek that here much mor eeffective than a car and they say spix because the parts are flying over the border

"Atomic, much higher-tech propulsion systems have been possible for decades - they are suppressed by big money, big oil and big politics." Conspirecy theorist I assume? Atomic Energy is neither cheap or safe for small vehicles, not to mention, atomic power is magical. How do you expect atomic energy to make a car fly? Can you use electricy alone to get off the ground? Also, the waste product of a nuclear fission reaction is radioactive waste, which makes carbon dioxide and sulfites look like candy.
"utilizing truly high-tech principles of Magnetics and Gravity etc"
Scientist still don't know why or how gravity works, and magnetics is still a pretty unknown field as well. Cloning is easy compared to the physics of our universe.

Atomic, much higher-tech propulsion systems have been possible for decades - they are suppressed by big money, big oil and big politics. If we really wanted clean cars or even flying cars, I am certain that in a world where we can clone sheep and now human beings, our scientists could find a way - if only they and we had the necessary motivation...

the bottom line is that our technology investments went down a path of inefficient oil-based motors to support the controlling phat cats and their buddies instead of utilizing truly high-tech principles of Magnetics and Gravity etc...of course the govvy itself has been working hard on anti-gravity matters for decades and probably has some great anti-gravity tech we wont see for a long time, if ever...

Human input with Flying cars = VERY BAD IDEA!
I think a high tech highway system, automated driving, or well planned mass transit is a better idea and more plausible.

It's got iDrive.

It plays to the most memorable song from The Matrix (not a smart thing to do).

AND, has a name that's a homophone of a racial slur.

Gotcha.
