Everyone knows that Dodge and its SRT division have been furiously working on developing an all-new, next-generation Viper that can act as a proper halo car for the brand since before the last model was officially discontinued.
But today, a rumor has arisen suggesting one of the most unlikely venues to mark the first official revealing of this next-gen sportscar: a charity event in Miami known as “Rides and Smiles,” according to Top Speed.
The event is held annually and gives kids with chronic illnesses a chance to escape their harsh realities, forget about their illnesses, and enjoy some serious fun at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in a myriad of fast and expensive cars.
In years past the Dodge Viper has been a favorite for attendees, so the suggestion that Dodge has decided to use the venue to unveil its next-gen Viper, giving the kids the ultimate present may not be all that far fetched.
Our very own Mark Elias has been a driver at the event for a few years, so if the rumor ends up being true, expect a slew of high-quality images to prove it right here on Leftlane.
UPDATE: Mark Elias spoke with Chrysler representative Lisa Barrows who informed Leftlane that nothing is expected until next year. In that case, the rumor may be false entirely, or they may be a slight chance that a camo-covered mule of sorts could make a showing to give the kids a sneak-peak of how the next Viper will drive.
