A high-ranking Nissan official has confirmed that the next-generation Infiniti G sedan will arrive in the spring of 2013.
Although it was widely believed that Infiniti's updated
BMW 3-Series fighter would arrive in 2013 as a 2014 model, Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Nissan and Infiniti's Global Business Unit, put all questions to rest by confirming to
Inside Line that "the new G will arrive a year from now."
Palmer didn't reveal any other details, but the next G is expected to switch from Nissan's FM platform to a new architecture that will underpin the next Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Infiniti will also lean heavily on corporate partner
Mercedes for engines, including a new four-cylinder turbo that will likely replace the small displacement V6 currently used in the G25.
Palmer also indicated the next G could arrive with a turbocharged six-cylinder, but that engine would likely be reserved for a
high-performance IPL model.
