all i did was ask a question, all this crap would not of have been said if someone didnt point out that A4 said it.

A4, maybe people took you the wrong way, Elvacano asked did you say jap and you said yea …then went on to say anyone that doesnt use it is a bunch of sissies or somethng, something that wasnt called for because people actually don’t use it. Its not about people growing up, dude, its common sense, we all know it use to be an offensive term towards the japanese and maybe still is i dont know, and the last time i checked, the Quest and QX were built here on AMERICAN soil. (which is now being swithched to Japan) its not being a sissy, its called respect.
And the reason why i said racism is what runs american is because of crap like this, everyone was so quick to jump on the topic instead of moving on……..so this thread will have like 10000 comments not on nissan but racist derogatory terms.

The use of computers and world trade with most merchandise coming from a foreign country has made PC not stupid but necessary, as we interact far greater diversity than ever before on a daily basis. While some defend the use of “JAPS” I would like to know how many people who are of Janpanese heritage feel the term is a neutral as you say. And, there will always be a few who would scoff it off, so don’t point out the one or two friends of Japanese heritage who put up with it as they probably don’t want to offend you or want to pick a fight over it. I doubt there are many people on the floor of Japanese companies like Honda in this country who would refer to their bosses a “JAP” to their face when the top staff do their visits if it is so neutral and inoffensive. The people who say grow up and PC correctness is crap live in a world about 40 years behind the times. I say it’s time for you to grow up and live in the current times.

Bottom line is, everyone in the world is turning into a bunch of tight-assed, “PC” douchebags.
“Japs” isn’t a racist term, nor was he targeting any particular persons, like he said.
While some of you may think political correctness is the only way to live, your lack of common sense and the blinds you pull over your eyes is worlds more immature than someone making a “controversial” comment. Everybody gets crucified for the smallest things, even with the Audi guy and his “idiots” comment. Good for him, he has the balls to say what’s on his mind, and if I were him I wouldn’t even think of going back on it like he began to (go ahead and call me what you will for that, i’m sure a couple of you will have pathetic comebacks for it).
Political correctness is a joke, and it’s going to turn everyone into a miserable opinionless drone, and the current 18-25 generation realizes this a good bit more than current crop of bigwig fools who tear everyone apart who says something questionable (if you even want to call it that), so hopefully the future looks a little brighter for people saying what the hell they want. Lord knows I’m going to continue.
This PC crap is taking everyone to hell in a handbasket and like Jake said, if you’ve got a problem with a little comment saying “Japs”, go out in the real world and you probably won’t last very long.

So my term Jap as shortening the word Japanese is now racist… Wow, it was used as a derogatory term towards the companies, not a particular person. If anyone is concluding that I, myself, is a racist for using such a term on companies – that I have purchased from (5 of the 8 I’ve owned were Japanese cars) you are the most over the top crazy politically correct lovin’ SOBs. Fight fights worth fighting. I have several friends that came from Japan and have the utmost respect for their country.

Did I offend any person refering to a company based out of Japan by calling it Jap? No. If you were AND you yourself is Japanese, well tough. Grow some thicker skin. Life’s hard and if something like calling Japan’s big 3 the Jap 3 on a message board about Japanese product’s getting a redesign 3 years too late, you need to get out in the real world and realize life is full of worse sh!t than that.

Rollingrock, amongst themselves they also use “nigger”. Double standards among ethnicity, who ever it is, is hypocritical. And who is to say “white” is not offensive? If we wish to dig into history, “white-man” was a derogatory comment among Native-Americans whether it was called for or not. That aside, “Japs” was used as a derogatory term yet has interagrated itself into our culture and no longer holds the same rigid meaning it did in the ’40′s. Great example would be “cool”.

Scratchy it was used in derogatory means during the ’80′s in Anti-American demonstrations held here in Germany and actually it is derived from the French meaning of “friend”.

Rollingrock, it’s African-Americans nowadays, “blacks” is considered almost as derogatory as “nigger” by some. It’s not Politically Correct but I was raised to call them “blacks” and I still do, without malice or any other negative connotation meant by it. Thank you for being a perfect example of what I was saying though.

Elvacano has some class and I applaud him. The forums lose any credibility when people use knee jerk reactions and make comments that are clearly made without their brain in gear before engaging their mouth or keypad. The U.S. auto industry is taking more of the taxpayers money to survive for their endless mistakes and buying public votes with their dollars who is winning the war for our dollars, the so called “Japs” or us? Wake up, people are buying their cars for a reason, not because they must. I know you must think the rest of us are idiots or misguided but the sissies simply have a little class. The sissies you talk about are paying the salary of G.M. employee’s and I bet you wouldn’t turn down their money and let G.M. go down the pipe! If you want to be a macho man, start a movement to take over the G.M. bailout and let the Sissies but their tax dollars in their own bank account instead of G.M.! Nissan has had its hits and misses but overall it is generally a company known for reliability and good value.

IMO neither of these models will be anywhere near class leaders in sales. I’d just assume focus their resources elsewhere and pull out of the large lux body on frame SUV and minivan segments. I wonder if either one will even make money.

The shelf life on these minivans is ridiculous! The Sienna has been out since 2002, the Odyssey turned 5 years old and the Quest… 2003. It was a extreme and interesting minivan back then, too bad the world has changed. About time? Ya think? Detroit get’s called out on old products – why do the Japs get a free pass?
