At Monday night’s meeting, representatives from the UAW and American Axle agreed to resume full negotiations on Wednesday. American Axle CEO Richard E. Dauch and UAW President Ron Gettelfinger bring the talks back to the same level they were back on March 11 in efforts to resolve the six week old strike which crippled GM’s production plants.

“It was very productive,” said American Axle spokeswoman Renee Rogers of last night’s meeting, as per Automotive News. The UAW is representing about 3,650 workers at American Axle. UAW officials from American Axle’s five local bargaining units would rejoin the talks on Wednesday.

To recap, the strike idled production at about 30 General Motors parts makers or assembly lines. GM accounts for close to 80 percent of American Axle’s sales.

It may be a while yet before the strike is resolved, however, as the UAW is planning a support rally for striking American Axle workers on April 18th at Hart Plaza in Detroit.
