Late Tuesday reports had General Motors tell its dealers it will not accept orders for certain full-size new truck and SUVs in the next two weeks. The automaker claims the shortage of parts due to the American Axle strike has caused it to stop production of some of its SUVs and trucks at affected plants.
The vehicles that will not available for order include the GMC Yukon, GMC Denali, GMC Sierra heavy-duty regular cab and extended cab, GMC commercial heavy duty and their equivalent Chevy-branded trucks, according to industry paper Automotive News. GM already has a 102-day supply of 3500-series heavy duty truck and 178 days worth of 2500HDs, so the issue is not a huge one.
However, Mark LaNeve, the automaker’s president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, said GM lost an estimated 15,000 sales to commercial and fleet business in April because of the Axle strike.

Aren’t they suppose to be cutting production on those anyway? Make up your mind already GM.
A shot in the arm: less expenses
You go, American Axle union guys. Serves GM right — bunch of jerks.
Old news… let’s move on people.
This is like watching two blind people play tennis.
If this reduces GM’s truck inventory to under 180 days, the Detroit brass is gonna get really worried.
I’m going to have to start thinking more like GM and keep a 180 day supply of beer in the fridge.
I agree with all the comments above.
Because there aren’t already enough broads driving these to the mall while dialing
As the price of gasoline increases, shouldn’t the “day supply” number increase also.
