American Family Association — a Christian-conservative values group — has dropped its boycott against Ford . According to AFA, the boycott — which was drafted in 2005 — was enacted because Ford gave financial backing to homosexual organizations, advertised in gay-friendly media outlets and donate money and cars to homosexual events.
Ford says the changes are due to financial constraints, not a change in values.

“We are committed to treating everyone fairly and with respect, including our dealers, customers and employees,” Ford said in a released statement. “Ford will continue to market its products widely to attract as many customers as possible and make charitable contributions to strengthen communities to the extent business allows.”

In a statement released by the AFA, the group noted that Ford saw an 8 percent monthly decrease in sales since the start of the boycott. The AFA doesn’t think the boycott was responsible for the entire sales decline, but does feel that it “played a very significant role.”

Ford doesn’t support the AFA’s view on its dropping sales and chalks up the decline to slumping market.
