Once again, calling me a bigot for simply what I consider wrong is senseless, and you obviously can’t surpass grade school bickering.

Sorry, but gays can be attracted to the opposite sex. There are gays that change orientation all the time, not to mention that was sort of a pointless argument. If I were gay, then it would be so, I haven’t denied anything so quit assuming, I only mentioned some of my opinion, and pure facts. Go look em up. Like I said though, most of you who argue your point can’t surpass grade school pecking, calling everybody a hater, bigot, etc.. Bring some facts to the table, not assumptions and realize your own irony.

Yes, being a bigot is sick. Could you “choose” to engage in homosexual sex and enjoy it like you enjoy hetero sex? The answer is NO. Just as gays cannot choose to be attracted to the opposite sex. Sorry Eddie Willers, but discussing how sexuality isn’t a choice for one is not for this board, and for two can’t be and isn’t proven.
You’ll learn if you were a little more liberal and came out of the box that you were in, that homosexuality neither helps mentally (higher rates of domestic violence, far lower rates of monogamy, higher rates of diseases being passed through the bloodstream, higher rates of drug usage, I could go on and on, but that’s not what this board is for. As I mentioned, I’m open to a debate, but I won’t be the one to put my email on this board).

It’s not bigotry, it’s just plain outright sick. I’m not hating them for what they do, but I openly disagree with it. I would say something similar to what lucklaster said, but I’m not so sure about some of his statements.

Most educated? So was Nazi Germany before World War 2. And by most rankings we (US) are increasingly more poorly schooled and “educated”. I would never brag about something so transparently ridiculous. And even at that some of the best school districts are from some of those “states” you insulted. Dogma comes in many forms. I see oceans of it on this site and on this subject. Think about the educational establishment that is responsible for your blue state education. I might give it another name – indoctrination.

isn’t it funny how the most liberal areas of this country are statistically the most educated? Bigotry is ignorance regardless if its toward race, color, creed, sexual orientation or any number minorities. Sexuality is not a choice, so the health benefit would be the mental well being of a person who happens to be gay(there are millions, mostly closeted) finding happiness with another. Wouldn’t it be nice if the moral majority put down their bibles and picked up science books?….someday we will turn those red states blue.

It doesn’t take much to start a church or an organization like AFA. I’ve always said that this boycott was a farce and probably the leader was a prior owner of a 96 Taurus that had 3 trannies out in 4 years and Ford wouldn’t pay for his 3rd one. The boycott simply did not make sense. Scion, Toyota, Coke-Cola, Hugo Boss, and for that matter, GM all had more gay advertising dollars and presence in the gay media than Ford Motor. Ford showed them that, but it didn’t matter. No boycott for those brands, and probably none to come. It was personal! Maybe someone should investigate….No!…no one really cares about the AFA and what they believe in. Another group that drives old 100k beaters to be together every week to complain about why the world is coming to an end. Besides, isn’t the Prius a popular car with the homosexual community, not the F-150?

Since the AFA claims responsibility for part of Ford’s sales decline, I’m sure they can explain it to workers who lost their jobs. “Sorry you’re now on welfare, but at least the cars you used to build won’t be used by sinners. See you in Church!”

The truth is these boycotts have zero effect on their targets, the AFA had a similar effort against Disney for years. There’s a reason why it’s called the “Happiest (Gayest) Place on Earth”

Fact is that I don’t hate queers at all, but I don’t like them either. I acknowledge their right to do what they want, but people like SoLoveLA don’t want to acknowledge my right to laugh about what they do. In essence, he wants his rights acknowledged and “embraced” while at the same time denying others their rights.

Joking about queers or christians or whites or blacks is far far different than actively hating them. Active hate is bull, but if you’re an adult and you don’t have the spine to take a joke or off-color comment, then you have no business mingling in society and certainly none visiting a public website.

The AFA gave up their boycott because they realized it had absolutely no effect, nobody knew about this boycott. It wasn’t national news except on auto blogs for a week once a year when the AFA would send out a PR claiming some obnoxious numbers. Anyways, I personally hope the AFA burns in hell for their ignorance and spreading of hate.

@autonut – I think AFA’s gripe was with how Ford was marketing Jaguar to homosexuals. That marque has the necessary chic.

@SoLoveLA – Are they promoting hate, or are they merely opposing something that they believe to be wrong? If an organization marketed cars to murderers, then I’m sure someone would boycott. If someone sees homosexuality as a sin in the same way that they see murdering as a sin (maybe not on the same level but you get the point), then can you blame them for taking a stand?

The question, then, isn’t if AFA is right for doing what they’re doing; rather, it’s the question of whether homosexuality is wrong or not. And that goes beyond the scope of this forum here.

That being said, I really don’t think their ban had anything to do with the sales slump.

I think AFA stands for “Association For Abnormal”. I am sure we will learn someday that founding fathers of this fine organization have been involved in homosexual trysts or with plain prostitutes (historically that has been a trend and yes I am from NY, sort of).
However, I doubt that Fords are in vogue with homos, gays and lesbos alike. Those cars are not cute enough for gays and not butch enough for crafty girls. Actually, based on Ford sales they not extremely popular with heterosexuals either. It’s tough to be Ford.
