Another look at the 2007/2008 Hyundai Tiburon

08/21/2006, 3:51 PM

By admin

In late July, Hyundai released the first official images of the 2007/2008 Hyundai Tiburon Coupe, which was on display at a number of Asian auto shows around the same time. Photos have since surfaced online from a video shoot for a commercial for the new car. The images provide a “real life” look at the car, which looks somewhat more attractive on the road than in studio shots. Gallery after the jump…

Not all that different is it? Is this a face lifted version of the current one?

It is def a face lift…but I wonder if the changes are more then skin deep..this car with the sonata’s 230 hp engine would be pretty nice.

Liek the current one better…this looks like a dna experiment gone awry between a celica, eclipse, current car, and Mercury cougar. Bad, real bad.

I really like this car, it’s good looking. Only if it wasn’t FWD. I REALLY like the idea of an AWD Tiburon with a more powerful engine (than the current one). That I would consider as long as the AWD system was pretty refined. Of course we may not see this car in AWD, or RWD even but it’s would be a great car :)
I hate to admit thought this car from side angles does look like a Jag…..

what were you thinking

i wonder if it will share some engines with the eclipse. since mitsu and hyundai are tied with DC in that whole “WORLD” engines thing. that’d be cool, have the same 3.8L V6 from the eclipse in this puppy, ya!

yeah that would be pretty cool as long as it makes good output :)

its ugly – slapped together styling
its derivative – nothing is groundbraking, cool, or unique
its slow – no matter which way you cut it, its a heavy fwd car, with a sedan engine
so the thing that will sell this car is the warranty. woot.

Just like the new Eclipse the Scions they are trying too hard the import racer styling. Those ****ty chrome tail lights and tacky gas cap were all the rage with import culture…5 damn years ago.

Yay.

I’ve always wanted to drive a hunchbacked car. I wonder if it’ll be popular at the University of Notre Dame?

“Only if it wasn’t a Hyundai.”

At least it’s not a GM.

“It is def a face lift…but I wonder if the changes are more then skin deep..this car with the sonata’s 230 hp engine would be pretty nice.”

It gets variable valve timing for the 2.7, making 15hp and 15lb-ft more.

Tuscani Order

The 2nd generation, 2003 – 2006, Tiburon/Tuscani/Coupe is a fully integrated design worthy of admiration and accolades. It manages a strong presence, appearing sexy with substance minus too much unnecessary bling.
This facelift for the 2007/08 model is not worthy of the original GK 2003/06 design. The front end snout/air intake is much too narrow and results in a week, generic look common to many cookie cutter cars – disappointing. Also, the BMWesqe front fender detail with its inbuilt turn signal is overkill and unoriginal in the extreme.
I believe that what constitutes a car of character and depth is the evolution of its basic design aesthetic, which results in its design purity, essence and soul. Great designs evolve purposefully and with grace, not like a bull roaring through a china shop.
To create the 2nd generation Tiburon/Tuscani/Coupe (sort out the name thing too – a Porsche 944 is the same world wide, its identity is clear), Hyundai pinched certain key elements from a number of prestigious sports cars and blended them beautifully into their own original. The Hyundai will go down in history as one of the major turning points for the company and its own evolution from being a maker of cheap cars lacking depth or character, to cars of quality, design and engineering excellence – all of which they have already shown to be achievable in a value package.

05 Owner

This new tiburon looks like crap compared to the older 05 that i have, i dont mind the tail-end of the car but other then that it dont look gud, it is missing the nice gills on the side, and the front-end of the 05 looks much better then this 1. the rims r fine, but yea i rekon they would need way more power in this version to make it worhtwhile buyin, i think ill keep my 05 and put some mods on.
