The options sheets for Porsches drive me nuts. I would rather just buy a used porsche and make it simplier.

Andre Neves: Yes, it's as simple as that...You make a good product and people will buy it, almost regardless of the price. And for the same reason that's why US cars don't sell...

Renton: well Harley-Davidson nearly went bankrupt in the '80's so I can understand why they'd still do that. Custom choppers aren't cheap either, West Coast Choppers and Orange County Choppers being a prime example.

Porsche is profitable because of their marketing ploy. They go after what Ferrari does: offer a base model car with nothing, and because people still want a Porsche with stuff in it offer them really expensive options and they will bite. Its a good, profitable way to sell cars, however i will never buy one because of that. As someone stated above, i want my 80k car to come with AT LEAST xenon headlamps and power seats.

I really like Porsches but every time I go into the dealership, which is not often, the chareges for the necessary options always blow me away.

$80K cars should come standard with Xenon headlights, and theyu should not cost $1800
Sportscars, especially Porsches should come standard with limited slip differentials.

No wonder they have record profits, I think they followed the business model of Harley-Davidson.

what is the difference between "group sales" and "total production"? Is that number a figure for the amount of Porsches seating in dealer lots somewhere?

I think it's time for them to change their slogan...
"There is ABSOLUTELY no substitute."

And I love working for them. It's funny how the company which almost collapsed(financially) back in the mid to late 80's has turned everything around and become the most profitable in two decades.
Go Porsche!
