Another take on the 2008 Audi Q5

12/08/2006, 11:02 AM

Germany’s AutoBild magazine has published a new illustration of the forthcoming Q5 crossover from Audi. The Germany luxury brand announced plans for the Q5 in May, saying the compact SUV would be assembled at the Ingolstadt production facility and arrive as a 2008 model. It is believed to share a platform with the recently-unveiled Volkswagen Tiguan.

While it’s impossible to determine the authenticity of this illustration, the magazine has a strong track record at predicting new models as production draws closer. [See full PDF here].

I dont find any Cross-overs attractive but this is the best looking one so far…great proportions with the flared fenders and deep-dish wheels…

Crossovers are still better than SUV’s and handles better too when going fast.

So it’s not as dynamic and economic as a car, and doesn’t give you the space/room of a SUV – best of both worlds. I gues the reasoning is that if socer moms need to drive big SUVs to drop of the kids, then a crossover is even a better idea. Despite the bashing, I have to admit I’d have a look at these (crossovers) when going car shopping.

I completely agree with Anonymous (a very original username btw). Based on my assumption of the scale of the vehicle (I’m picturing something bigger than an Escape but smaller than an Explorer), this should be a class best. Thinking that it’ll be in the RDX/LR2 price range ($35-$42k), it should be a great vehicle.

I’d love to see the interior pics soon!

I’ve had an Audi in the past and they are great driving/design/interior vehicles and I’m excited to see the deliverable unit. I also agree that the Q7 came out quite a bit bloated in both design, scale, and price.

Cool. I’m eyeing the diesel Patriot/Tiguan myself as this Audi will probably be too expensive, but it’s good to see we’re getting so many choices. :)

The problem with Audi is that all of their models from sedans to SUV looks the same. Even the new TT has lost its signature lines with no real personality. Which is unfortunate given the nice 2.0T engine.
