Independent coachbuilder Anteros will unveil three new Corvette-based sports cars at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) auto show later this month. The vehicles feature design cues from the 1960s, which Anteros calls the “golden age of sports cars.”
Anteros XTM Roadster, Anteros XTS Targa, and Anteros XTR Hardtop are built around the Corvette Z06 chassis and powertrain. So far, the company has only released images of the XTM Roadster, with sketches of the XTS Targa and XTR Hardtop.
All three cars have an output of 550 to 650 horsepower, depending on the supercharger configuration. Fuel economy is as high a 28 mpg, according to Anteros. Gallery after the jump…

Not bad.
The late 50’s through the 60s Italian cars are the ones to copy.

With the Z06 platform not being the best in the ride department one wonders why they didn’t use the regular Corvette platform.

I like the nose – very Classic Ferrari – and the interior is rather nice. Also like the rear-roof of the Targa (very 70’s Corvette)
…but the panel gaps between the doors and the hood are huge, inset tailpanel is crap, and the accent creases along the sides and the rear of the convertible is just too “Penelope Pittstop”

Mertzen they chose the Z06 chassis because its all aluminum, not steel like the regular vette, not because of it ride quality.

Aren’t the regular Corvette and Corvette Z06 essentially built on the same platform? isn’t most of the ride difference a side effect of different suspension set-ups? I mean, I know the two cars are vastly different, but they do use the same basic archietecture, right?

Superb idea, taking a Z06 Corvette and giving it a new look, but the design is amateurish. Also, the split rims are at odds with it. Is the logo a flying bull?

I’m not a big fan of the C6 body style, but this is atrocious. I’ll take an undefiled Z06 any day over this pathetic attempt at this retro look!

Do they make an automatic Z06? Blasphemy if so, but that shifter is clearly for an automatic.

It’s very possible the shifter could have been redesigned into a forward/back motion for quicker shifting.
I think it looks stunning, all over. But that’s all depending on taste.

I sure like the new wave of rebodies of cool but over-produced cars…
But starting with a MB or 6 series is one thing, a clunky, darty C6 is something else. And this particuliar example is too ‘Ferrari Kit Car’ for my taste. The dressed-up interior is refined and not overdone… they kept it from looking like a ‘Pimp My Ride’ episode.

And the inner front quarter and headlamp unit under the clamshell hood is pretty trick.
Ass-end needs work.

Love the looks unfortunately there is still too much Corvette interior bits. They should have gone for a major renovation inside as well. The additional cowl and woodgrain bits look cheesy and tacked on with double sided tapes!

Overall, it looks like a kit. The nose is pretty nice, but otherwise it just looks like a kit. The whole design is forced. Instead of looking for a platform that would suit their body style, it appears they picked a body style and platform independantly. I guess their designers skipped that day in design school when they dicussed “form follows function”.

I love it aside from the large gaps and the rear end it looks good. They should make the back look somewhat like the back of the Ford GT

To me it just looks like an amalgam of European cars. If the factory C6 looked like this, then they released the actual C6 as a SEMA concept car, we’d all be here saying how great that one is and how it should have been the factory design from the get-go. I know the current C6 isn’t all that different from from the C5 and you all see way too many of them on the road for it to be “exotic” but at least you know its a Corvette. I can’t tell what this thing is.

sexy on the outside, still has a fugly steering wheel and shifter tho, which seems to have become the unchangeable staple of vettes these days. I would’ve bought a Z06 had it not been tarnished by the nasty outdated interior. Aside from that, the new Z06 is probably one of the best sports cars ever built.
