Arden AJ 20 kit pushes Jaguar XK to 480 hp

German tuner Arden has put together a set of upgrades for the new XK range from Jaguar. Jaguar fits the XK as standard with a 4.2 liter V8 with with 298 horsepower. Arden rebuilds this eight-cylinder engine from scratch and increases displacement to 4.5 liters, optimizes the lubrication and the cooling, improves the intake and exhaust systems, adds sports catalytic converters, and re-calibrates the EMS. The result is almost a hundred extra horse power, with the total of 392 bhp. Arden says zero to 62 mph takes just 5.3 seconds, compared to 6.1 seconds for the stock model.

If that’s not enough, Arden also offers a supercharged version, which elicits an impressive 480 hp. The supercharged XK accelerates 0.5 seconds faster to 62 mph than its naturally aspirated counterpart. Like Jaguar’s official acceleration numbers, Arden’s are likely a bit on the conservative side. The company also offers a custom bodykit, exhaust, and 21″ wheels. Illustration gallery after the jump…

The new numbers are pretty impressive, but the new look?
Not so much.

Someone had disagreed with me on a prior post that Jag could potentially be the ‘rival’ to Aston Martin after the sale. Clearly, they have the potential.

Gorgeous. But the Ford platform turns me off.

The only thing I dont like is the front damn air inlets. Those are, IMO, a bit too much for what is otherwise a very clean design. Obviously I like the power numbers :) .

Actually, that are even photoshops of the prototype Advanced lightweight coupe, not the production XK. The skirt and front are very obvious brushed.

Nice technical improvements anyway, that XK platform is capable of much more according to proffesionals who have driven it.

What’s the point of taking a car as gorgeous as the Jag and then sticking scrappy plastic offcuts over it? The power is useful but have some restraint or stick to Supras…

Really Don? How many actual Tuners specialize in modding Jaguars? A million you claim? I think not. Ardens been around for a LONG time. How many others rebuild their engines from scratch? None that I know of. This isnt 1 guy’s car who decided to modify it – its an actual Tuner firm that offers this as a PACKAGE for any Jag owner to purchase…

…the more this site goes on(over 1 year now), the more ridiculous and uneducated the comments become…

Sweet mods, to say the least! And I like the improvements, a 100 horses extra is nothing to sneeze at. :)

Why not get the XK-R from the factory and be done with it? I’m sure this a nice , tight, high compression zippy ride, but how much will it cost? What else can you get for the money?
