Jon, funny how you didn’t describe Audi’s grille as good looking or beautiful. I know it’s all a personal preference. I understand Audi’s attempt to distinguish themselves with the wide open mouth grille, but it’s still ugly. Even if it’s ‘distinctive’, it’s still ugly.

It’s not beautiful. It’s poised and thoroughly Germanic in everyway. It’s aggressive and balanced; it conveys the link to the Silver Arrow past, while transmitting the future of Audi as well, using a polarizing design that solidifies the brand across every car they make. The Shield Grill achieves everything it sets out to do and does it flawlessly.

bangle is a great designer, dont try and somehow relate him to this hideous piece of ****, his designs clearly are good or else the 7 series and 5 series wouldnt sell so damn well, and every other car manufacturer is copying his design elements to boot. but this grille is awful. end of story.

Chris Bangle is NOT a great designer. He has single handedly destroyed BMW’s sporty yet classy looks. Don’t get me wrong, I am well aware that beauty is subjective. You must admit, however, that the current BMW’s design is rather bland and unfortunatley, toyish looking. They no longer look like a serious man’s car. You can’t take the car seriously when you look at it. Yes these cars move and yes they handle brilliantly… but the design is lacking. Now back to the topic… yes I agree this grill is hideous and there is no need to touch an S-class. It speaks for itself. An AMG package is all you need. End of story.

i like it. kind of a sinister look to it, but i think it would be better in black. i like better the way Jon put it.

the s-class is fine the way it is…putting all these scoops, awkard grill and side skirts on make it look like an import tuner. if anything, it should look simpler because luxury cars make their presence known by sheer simplicity and elegance.

Why are all these designers putting tuner quality vents and body kits on expensive luxury sedans? Back in the day the designers had it right. Simple is key. It’s a lot harder to make a car look slick and sleek and bad ass, but it’s easy to make one look cluttered and unbalenced. Eh, ASMA needs to find a civic and try to make that look and drive like an S-Class. That would be news worthy.
