  • Aston Martin announces Carbon Black package for DBS and V12 Vantage models

By Drew Johnson - Posted December 18th 2009

Aston Martin has announced a special edition Carbon Black package for its DBS and V12 Vantage models. As the name implies, the Carbon Black treatment gives both models a dark, sinister look, with that theme carrying over to the cars’ interiors.
Setting the limited edition models off is a unique Carbon Black metallic paint. More than just a new shade of black, the Carbon Metallic hue is laid down by hand, taking over 50 man hours to paint just one vehicle.

The V12 Vantage Carbon Black edition features carbon fiber side strakes backed by a black mesh. The special edition V12 Vantage also features gloss black 10-spoke wheels, a bright finished grille and typically optional front parking sensors.

Inside, both vehicles sport Obsidian Black leather interiors contrasted with silver stitching. A piano black finished is used throughout the interior, including on the center stack, center console and sill plates. Carbon fiber and Kevlar seats give the vehicles a decidedly sporting look while saving 17kg. A Bang & Olufsen audio system comes standard with the Carbon Black package.

The Carbon Black edition DBS and V12 Vantage are currently available for order at Aston Martin dealerships, with the package expected to add a 5 percent premium over the price of the standard cars.

I’m not too hip on the big gaping maw up front. Looks like a whale shark.

Very nice, but after all that work, there should have been a perfoemance upgrade as well.

Extraordinarily good looking. I guess you have to be good in at least one category for people to buy your car.

I absolutely love the current Aston Martins. They may not be the fastest or the fanciest, but they are the prettiest.

The wheels (first pic anyways), hood vents, and lower half of the front suck. The interior is also stylistically sub-par considering the cost. I’m not blown away by this exotic ride at all. It’s just too generic-looking, and the Jag on the same platform is simply prettier while also being tens of thousands cheaper.

i like it, except for the hood louvers. It’s gonna suck if some jealous d-bag decides to key it, that would be mondo expensivo.

I didn’t know Aston Martin sourced their rims from TireRack.

DB9 is going to kill me but a ‘shaker’ hood scoop would look soooo awesome.

Wasn’t there some guy who drove an Aston who liked it shaken…?

Yeah – gorgeous car, but those rims are bloody awful …..should take a styling cue from Audi who
really has had some interesting / nice rims the last few years.

      TireRack ……funny !
