The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show is just hours from officially getting underway, but before things get started Aston Martin decided to tease a pair of new DBS Carbon Edition models for your enjoyment.
Many of you may recall the introduction of the Carbon Black DBS in 2009, but after two years the automaker decided it was time to freshen things up by adding two new colors: Flame Orange and Ceramic Grey.
These new colors will join – not replace – the original black DBS color for the latest lineup, along with the newly added availability of a satin lacquer finish, which gives any color a silk-like texture and look unlike any other.
The DBS Carbon Edition models will feature unique 10-spoke gloss black diamond turned wheels with a reversed diamond turned or full gloss black finish available as an option. Brake calipers come stock in black, but can be optioned to more flashy yellow, orange, red or gray for a little extra coin.
Up front, the grille is finished in a “warm black” color, complemented by carbon fiber mirror caps, carbon fiber rear lamp in-fills and smoked rear taillights – all new to the Carbon Edition.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Aston if it didn’t have an absolutely sumptuous interior, which it does. Leather is of the semi-aniline type, chosen for its natural and softer touch, and can be had in either obsidian black or maranello orange.
Aston Martin says that the interiors of the DBS Editions consume at least 70 hours of skilled tradesman to complete, due to the details of the hand-quilted headliner, hand-stitched seats, doors and various other surfaces.
And it wouldn’t be a DBS Carbon Edition if it weren’t for the generous use of carbon fiber, which can be found across the dashboard fascia, hand-woven to fit the unique shape. Carbon fiber is also found on the tips of the magnesium alloy paddles, along with a laser-etched carbon fiber and metal plaque inlay.
For 2011, the Carbon Edition models also gain the newest Aston Martin Garmin navigation system and beam blade windscreen wipers for reduced wind noise and a more complete wipe.
Given the unique and hand-crafted nature of the cars, they won’t come cheap. The DBS Carbon Edition coupe will start at $287,576, while the Volante (drop-top) will start at a hefty $302,576. Deliveries are planned to begin on the first quarter of 2012.
