Aston Martin DBS Volante [Spied again]

Spy photographers have once again spotted a prototype of the upcoming Aston Martin DBS Volante. This time, the drop-top was spotted in an environment more akin to its skill set — just outside of Germany’s Nürburgring — rather than in the frigid climate of northern Sweden.

The move from the snowy roads of Sweden to the warmer climate of Germany also gives us our first clear look of the DBS Volante’s overall shape — which remains remarkably similar to its coupe brethren.

While the steel roof will be replaced by a canvas top and the layout of the side windows will differ from those of the DBS, all other body components will be identical to the Volante’s coupe sibling.

To ensure a top-speed beyond 190 mph, the same 6.0-liter 12-cylinder engine as in the coupe will power the convertible. 517 bhp and a torque of 420 pound-feet will accelerate the car from a standstill to 62 mph in just a fraction over four seconds. The price of the DBS Volante is expected to register just below 300,000 Euros.

Ooooh very good. Naturally, I would take the coupe instead but this will indeed be the hottest convertible in the world.

For less money than that boring junk costs, I’d be much happier with a big garage to house a 135i, and a Dodge Challenger, and a Ford GT and have a massive wad of cash left over.

i like their cars but their convertibles usually look a little weird to me, this one doesn’t look to bad to me.

If you had enough money to buy this car I would hope you wouldn’t be driving it in the snow. Get the damn thing out of the snow!

does anyone know why they dont put the badges on these prototypes? i mean, they clearly aren’t fooling anyone. do they just not feel like putting in the effort to attach them or is it a cost-cutting thing?

This ragtop does not look bad at all, but also does not look fitting for Aston Martin. Even VW has hardtop roof drop. I would expect Aston not to be outdone by the car 1/10 of its price.

Autonut, 2 reasons why aston martin uses rag-tops. 1) a convertible hardtop is rediculously heavy. 2) As aston Martin is seen as being a very traditional british Marque, Can you name me another Convertible british hardtop. looks great btw.

They stuck w/traditional ragtop for a reason. They rely entirely on tradition as held in the myopic minds of the boomers to sell their cars.
