Aston Martin One-77 to make U.S. debut at Pebble Beach

07/07/2009, 6:02 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Leftlane has learned that the upcoming Aston Martin One-77 supercar will make its North American debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August. Though it has made two appearances in Europe – at the Geneva Motor Show and the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este, Italy, the ultra-exotic has not visited one of Aston Martin’s most lucrative markets.

Despite being priced similarly to Bugatti’s Veyron — somewhere in the $1.5 to $2 million range — Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez insists that the One-77 is not intended to directly take on the 1000 hp Veyron. “It’s not all about power or being in a performance race with Bugatti,” Bez told Autocar. “It’s a fabulous, hand-built car that’s the pinnacle of what Aston Martin can achieve.” From what we can see from the leaked images, the One-77’s interior will be befit of a Bugatti rival.

Despite Bez’s denial of a supercar rivalry in the making, the One-77 will be equipped with enough firepower to take on practically any supercar in the world. Underhood, the One-77 will be powered by a 7.0-liter V12, derived from Aston’s 6.0-liter powerplant. Output is a massive 750 horsepower with torque checking in at about 533 lb-ft, although both figures are subject to change.

Those astronomical performance numbers and the One-77’s svelte 3,300 pound curb weight should net a top speed well past the 200 mph mark, with a 0-60 time of a scant 3.5 seconds.

But the One-77 won’t be a slouch in the corners, either. The One-77 is shorter than the DB9, lower than the Vantage and has a track of six and a half feet — only eight inches narrower than a Hummer H1.

Although it was previously reported that Aston Martin had received over 100 orders for the One-77, Bez said that those weren’t actually vehicle orders, but rather “expressions of interest”. Only 77 of those hand raisers will actually end up with a One-77 in their collection, with no two cars being exactly alike thanks to a customization system befit of a seven-figure supercar.

it nearly 1/2 a ton less then the Bugatti’s Veyron, i would think it would do 0-60 less then 3.5 secs, and looks better think i would take it over the Veyron if i ever had a choice.

I used to be obsessed with the DBS, I think I have a new favorite!
From the side it reminds me of the SLR McLaren and the back is ****ing amazing the lights look so sexy and very unique front. This car definitely stands out from the traditional Vantage that I see everyday and I wish I could go to Pebble Beach and see it in person, bring it to Beverly Hills! :]

WTHLLN! * inches is all you need in extra inches to make your car huge! Take away 8 inches and you are left where other cars are too

you could get a bugatti with 1.5m with 300 extra horsepower and torque, they probably need to price this a tad lower

This thing looks absolutely magnificent!! Blah Blah blah ya it’s almost as much as a Bugatti, but it’s not. The styling is unbeatable and it won’t be slow. Anything compared to a Bugatti is slow anyway and there’s always the WAY overpriced Lambo Reventon that is nothing but a Murci with better sheet metal and a new cluster. People with this kind of money are moved by sheer wow factor anyway, the price really doesn’t mean a lot in this supercar territory. They’ll most likely just be parking it next to their Veyron and Reventon anyway.
