Aston Martin sale dismissed as “rubbish”

02/06/2007, 10:43 AM

Rumors that Aston Martin has been sold to luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton (LVMH) are “absolute rubbish,” a spokesperson told U.K. weekly Autocar. “There is no truth in this story whatsoever,” the LVMH representative said.

A source within the bidding process told the magazine “the story is simply erroneous,” referring to a report last week by German auto magazine Autobild claiming LVMH won the rights to acquire Aston.

Louis Vuitton showed some interest in acquiring the brand, but decided not to proceed when bidding exceeded £400 million. Aston boss Ulrich Bez has also maintained the new owner should have at least some automotive industry experience.

Ford will announce the true new owner of Aston Martin in a month once the deal is finalized, the report said.

That’s nice to hear! Afterall, Ford has done a terrific job with AM.
I just couldn’t see such brand in the hands of a purse designer.

LOL well they could be telling the truth. As word gets out they are obligated to dismiss it as false until the “official” release. Honestly tho I think LV owning Aston is a good thing. Rich ppl love **** like that. Even us poo folk. Heheh Ive seen LV dog leashes, dishes, towels, you name it. Why not an LV Aston? I could see the interior now!

Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Ford may start running the company into the ground by negligence.
LV may do the same from inexperience.
LV,however, did hold out the hope that they would hire the best of the best to run the company, as LV mgmt would be out of their element

Is funny to be or not to be. AM needs real deep pocket to keep her alive.
She has some very turbulent years since mid-late 60’s. Her best years were probably when David Brown at her helm.

Whew! What a relief! Considering the sheer number of counterfeit “Vouis Luitton” merchandise flooding the market, I’d really hate to see a car lot full of “Maston Artin”s!!

i think it would be a good thing for Aston. No more cost cutting and borrowing Ford parts, access to as much $$ as the designers want. Bentley and Brietling are a similar situation, and it seems to be working fine.

VW should buy them out, since they got loads of money to build the Bugatti Veyron for crying out loud, i say why not, mercedes already owns chrysler and revived that auto maker, bmw… err… well anyway moving on… who else, not GM, they would make it worse, steal half its technology and then keep the same aston martin cars.

Is there any British auto firms that have a butt load of money to spend on something?

Damn!! that would be one of the best companies in the world if that merger went ahead. With the amount of money ol’ louis has lying around him i think aston would be in fairly good hands.
