The power of automotive enthusiasm to transcend boundaries was on display recently at the infamous Nuburgring when Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez and Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda, ostensibly marketplace rivals, traded race cars.
The friendly exhange saw Bez taking the wheel of the Gazoo Racing Lexus LFA and Toyoda puting an Aston Martin V12 Zagato prototype nicknamed “Zig” through its paces at the 9th VLN Race Weekend at the ‘ring. Unfortunately, contact from another racecar sent Toyoda and Zig and into a wall, but the Aston Martin racing team was able to put the car back in working condition so the Toyota scion could have one more stint on the track.
Besides being automotive CEO’s, both men have racing experience at the 24 Hours of Nuburgring in common.
