Complimenting its new RS 3 hot hatch, Audi has pulled the sheet on its A3 sedan concept. Previewing the next-generation of the A3 small car, the A3 sedan concept sports a healthy dose of performance.
The A3 concept’s most notable feature is a turbocharged five-cylinder engine cranking out 408 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. That power is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system, enabling the concept to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155.
Shifting duties are handled by Audi’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Stylistically, the concept features a single-frame grille, surrounded by the LED-filled headlamps that we have come to expect from Audi. The concept is 14.57 feet long, 6.04 feet wide and 4.56 feet high – which the automaker says help to emphasize both the unique coupe-like appearance and high-performance nature of the concept. The concept’s unique wheels are a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum.
Expect the production version of the A3 sedan to debut later in 2011.
