Spied: restyled Audi A3

09/14/2007, 11:31 AM

By Drew Johnson

Spy photographers have spotted a new Audi A3 with a revised front fascia. It appears as though the new A3 will better reflect Audi’s corporate face seen on the all-new A4 and A5. The new A3 is characterized by a sharper front end incorporating the newly-designed single-frame grill and small fins on the lower edge of the bumper. It is also believed that the car’s Xenon headlights will receive the same optic treatment found throughout the Audi lineup.

The A3 is scheduled to be replaced by an all-new model in 2009.

In an attempt to become a bigger player in the luxury segment currently occupied by BMW and Mercedes, Audi has given its entire lineup a similar corporate face. Although its cars are now easier to spot, Audi has been criticized for making its cars too bland and void of any unique-to-the-model styling. The most recent example of Audi’s styling can be seen in the all-new A4 — unveiled this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

It’s just a bumper update… S-line actually. Looks better than the current one.

I’d hardly consider this a ‘restyle’ worth noting…

More like a very minor update… at best.

BAH!

The new styling found on the A5 is much nicer but I wish Audi got rid of that hideously large grill.

The updated front is a slight improvement over the current grille.

Still no Quattro for A3 and the US market. I think the Audi wants the A1/S1 to take its place for having quattro in US.

Dunno why they don’t just bring the 2 door 2.0T version to US, it’s a lot of fun.

What’s with the chain link, what it’s a pound puppy?

That must be pics from the junkyard, I mean the Audi dealership.

Joke for the day: What is the biggest contribution Audi has made to the US economy?

Answer: Keeping the tow truck companies in business!!!
