After months of spy shots, Audi has officially taken the wraps off its update A3 and S3 Sportwagons. While technically the revealed versions are the Euro-spec A3s, we should see a similar version of the A3 three-door here in the States following the cars’ European launch this summer.
The new car sports revisions both inside and out, but nothing radical enough to make you think it’s anything but an Audi A3. Up front, the A3 receives a sporty fascia that includes revised headlights and LED running lights.
Out back, the Sportwagon’s hatch is slightly altered and new taillights feature a fiber optic rods for a unique effect.
The A3’s interior now sports a new chrome design trim, revised audio controls and a few new interior colors.
The update also added about an inch of length to the A3 three door, while the Sportback five-door’s length remains the about the same.
Under hood, the A3 can be had with a wide range of engines — gas and diesel — from a 1.6L with 102 horsepower to a 3.2L with 250 horsepower. All engines can be mated to Audi’s S tronic dual-clutch transmission, although only the 1.6, the 1.4 TFSI and the 1.8 TFSI can be had with the newly developed seven-speed box. All other engines must make due with a six-speed unit.
No word on when we’ll see the new A3 here in the States, but the Euro-spec version goes on sale this summer.

WOW! Another random run of the mill stationwagon/crossover! But it’s an Audi so that’s what makes it good. LAME, BORING and TASTELESS. Automakers are running out of cool ideas so they feed the people with no sense of style this lame garbage and they still buy it.

Gotta agree, most the people that say something like this is cool are not driving one and will never buy one. They are kiddy pick-r-up-ers. Called station wagons.

The question is not whether this car will be overpriced, but how overpriced.

That sure is a nice econobox. Best of the breed, I would say. Can’t see spending that much money for a car like that, but I guess if you like small hatchbacks, this is one of the nicest ones.

They won’t bring it here. Only loyal Audiphiles could look at the sticker without getting the dry heaves.

I do own one, it’s brilliant and the price is reasonable for a quality piece of kit

I think it’s great! Much improved. I think Audi is one of the few companies that can still make a well designed, contemporary looking car, without going overboard. Granted, I can’t afford any car Audi has, but that doesn’t stop them from being beautiful.

I love sportswagons. They are versatile and sporty at the same time. What more do you want? There are only so many designs car makers can do. Don’t look for a radical design to come out any time soon because unless they go to 3 wheels or 6 wheels, the designs will pretty much be the same. It beats all of the retro designs that are just updating a 30 year old design!!!

I lived in Germany when the original A3 came out and it was a great looking car. The replacement model was a major letdown, and theis refresh is sadly now typical Audi: stylistically stale.

Looks cool and juvenile. But I still think that they need to redesign their front, It’s very aggressive and cool but it’s kind of boring now that we’ve been seeing it for about what ?
10 years?
