Just yesterday Audi took the wraps off its updated A3 for Europe, and on Friday the German automaker revealed what is in store for the U.S.-spec car. While the A3′s styling will be almost identical in both markets, the U.S. will get the typical snuff in engine choices.
In the U.S., the A3 will be available with two engine choices — a 200 horsepower 2.0L TFSI unit or a 250 horsepower 3.2L V6.

2.0L cars will come standard with a six-speed manual while the 3.2L unit will only be available with Audi ’s S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. However, the S-tronic transmission can be mated to either engine.

New for the 2009 A3, buyers will be able to order the 2.0L TFSI in all-wheel drive quattro guise, which will also use the S-tronic gearbox.

As with the previous A3, the U.S. market will only get the five-door version.

The new A3 will begin showing up in dealer showrooms this Fall, at which time pricing will be announced.
