Audi’s A5 may play second fiddle to the S5, but the A5 is by no means a slouch. Because of the A5’s premium nature, Audi has no plans relish open air duties to the S5 Convertible and has taken the wraps off the A5 Convertible.
Like the S5 Convertible, the A5 Convertible does with a conventional soft top to keep weight at a minimum and space at a maximum. Aluminum fenders also help to keep the A5 Convertible’s weight similar to its fixed-roof counterpart.
While European versions of the A5 Convertible will get an array of diesel and gas powerplants, U.S. consumers will have access to just two – a 211 horsepower 2.0L TSFI four-cylinder and a 265 horsepower 3.2L FSI V6 borrowed for the A5 Coupe. Both engines will swap gears via an automatic transmission. Performance can also be enhanced with Audi’s new quattroSpor all-wheel drive system, which is designed to virtually eliminate understeer.
Like the S5 Convertible, look for the A5 Convertible to hit Audi dealers in the Fall of 2009, just in time for cold weather in most parts of the U.S.

The car looks very appealing and stylish, especially in cabriolet form. Audi deserves the credit for it because they’ve always impressed me, and the market. Well done Audi.

the roofline is what made the A5. Without it, it looks generic.
Not as boring as the old A4 convertible though.
