Audi A5 coupe expected in 2007; up to 420hp

By admin

Audi is to launch an A4-based coupe called the A5 in 2007, according to a story in Autocar this week. While rumors have been circulating for a while regarding the 2-door 3-series and CLK competitor, this week’s report sheds further light on the project. Engines available will include 150bhp naturally aspirated and 197bhp turbocharged 2.-0-litre powerplants, both four-pot motors, plus a 255bhp 3.2-litre V6. The range-topping A5/RS5, Audi’s answer to the M3, will get Audi’s 4.2-litre 420bhp V8 and four-wheel drive. The report also adds credibility to rumors that the A5 will essentially be a production version of the 2003 Nuvolari concept (shown right).
