2008 Audi A8L revealed

The Audi A8L is a long-wheelbase version of the popular A8 luxury sedan. The car is five inches longer than the standard A8, all of which accounts for additional rear seat legroom. Improvements to the A8L will match that of the regular-wheel base A8 sedan, including the revised suspension and steering, as well as the exterior changes.

The A8L can be ordered with the standard 4.2-liter V8 with 350 horsepower, or Audi’s W12 powerplant producing a solid 450 horsepower from 12 cylinders.

Even for such a large sedan, the sprint to 60 mph takes just 5.0 seconds, thanks to the big engine and Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The current-generation A8 has been a sales success for Audi, selling over 100,000 examples world wide.

The A8 styling is very conservative compared to the 7 series and the S class, the MMI is easy to use especialy for the old folks, and the interior is beautiful. Its my favorite flagship from Germany, thats for sure, and as most of you can tell I’m a bmw fan boy lol.

Bland and ugly. There is absolutely no design risk here.

And for those sorry saps who actually buy this roflmao! Please check off the colors red and yellow so that you don’t get clipped when you are broken down on the side of the highway. Red and yellow stand out the most so we can see you. Thanks

no design risk, as opposed to the impala’s daring styling.

Technology makes up for the lack of “risk in the design”. And 406 lb ft torque from the W12 ends this discussion.

Conservative, but shockingly fast for something that size. 0-60 in 5 seconds? Awesome…hot on the heels of a 911.

BMW took a design risk with the 7 series, and got crucified.
Audi played it safe, and gets crucified.
Sounds like people just like to bitch, no matter what.
Drive a new Audi if you can. You’ll be amazed and you’ll know exactly where the money went.

Why do people find A8 beautiful? It’s very plain jane and looks similar to the rest of their series.

So it hasn’t deviated much from 2006, so what? My ‘05 with the “other” grill looks the same inside and I can say that a loooong trip in these cars is sublime. 6 hours drive and you can walk out of it fresh and ready to party….or work. Fit and function are excellent. I only wish I had the $$ for the W12. Another 100 hp would be awesome! Go ahead and compare it to a BMW….talk about BORING!
