Audi for the first time confirmed to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport magazine that it will reveal the sporty S3 compact car this fall. Audi has yet to release any official technical specs, but the car is expected to get a four-cylinder 250 horsepower engine. A car believed to be the S3 was caught by spy photographers in January.

This new 2 door Audi S3 reminds me of a Honda Civic, Ford Focus or Chevy Cobalt, hopefully Audi does build this in the U.S. market with a good horsepower 4 cyl engine, the interior size of a Scion xb, the Audi signiture frontend and the Audi all-wheel-drive, all combined with good gas mileage, it will be a good drivers car or pocket rocket.

See Yeah!

if this is all-wheel drive, and under 30K it will do good. If not, it’s just going to collect dust…

Seeing as the normal A3 bases at $24,700 and the 250 hp V6 A3 starts at $33,000 this car will probably be pushing $40K. Steep price considering this is essentially a Golf based upmarket alternative to to the Evo or STi.

good point adam… Also how does Audi justify selling this more than the VW R32? Less power, but thousands more for leather interior?

The WRX (in whatever form) has about as much class as a steaming cow pie. The audi not only exudes quality and craftsmanship, but is stylish and practical too. WRX what? If I was given the choice between a golf GTI 2.0 FSI and a subaru wrx, it would be a no brainer, even though the subaru is awd and has more horsepower, I couldn’t care less. Who wants to drive around in a ridiculous winged wonder? Ever heard of tasteful styling? When I look at a wrx, evo, any crazy civic Si or whatever, I immediately think “unpimp ze auto”…
