Audi exec reveals future lineup

09/19/2007, 4:14 PM

By Drew Johnson

Audi will continue to expand its lineup into the next decade, says Audi’s North America executive vice president, Johan de Nysschen. In a recent press conference, de Nysschen said that Audi will introduce a four-door coupe — like the Mercedes CLS — that will slot between the A6 and A8 and hit the market in 2012. De Nysschen indicated that a concept would preview the car but failed to mentioned when or where the show car would bow.

Audi’s VP also comment that the Cross Coupe Quattro concept shown earlier this year was not a precursor to the Q5, but rather a completely new model yet to be announced.

De Nysschen confirmed that the R8 is scheduled to get a V10 model, although he didn’t reveal if it would be the twin-turbo V10 found in the RS6 Sedan and Avant. He continued to say a diesel version of the R8 is still being considered but no official decision has been made.

I can’t wait for the A7. Saw a rendering of it in Car and Driver and it looked sweet

for the four door coupe it will need to look very good in order to compete with the likes of the CLS which has benn a big success as for the diesel R8 im not so sure it would work, interesting concept though

I think Audi should concentrate on getting out of the bottom spot on customer satisfaction surveys.

A request to LLN – Please stop saying that these cars all will “bow” in the future. Get a Thesaurus. Pick a different word from time to time.

It’s just a term whatifidisagreewithyou – almost an automotive press term that is pretty much used by them and no one else. you have OCD or something?

Yup, they also need to replace the current Q7 (the ugliest SUV around). Why can’t they build 7seaters-SUV like the handsome-Toyota LandCruiser Prado!?

Nothing from Audi about any new RS models? They’re on the brink of approving the TT RS. Pretty sweet, especially as a hard top.

What about the 6 cylinder version of the Audi R8, the Audi R6. Not talking about the Audi R4, I’m talking about the 400+ HP, mid-engine, aluminum alloy space frame, Quattro, DSG Porsche Cayman S killer. The EU should stop the evil Porsche AG empire from buying Volkswagen if for no other reason than to let us consumers have the choice of buying the more powerful Audi R6 for less than what Porsche is pricing the base Cayman non-S.

Audi needs to offer easier, more direct ways to hook up to a towtruck. Makes owning one just a littlee easier

We got it already, all cars stink except GM’s. Therefore, there is no need for you to post anymore.

“bow” is just a term, I get it, but as a loyal reader, it starts to sound hack when everything “bows”. A good writer needs to show some depth in the ways that they can express themselves.

It was a friendly request. And an honest one. It sounds bad.
