With the rescheduled 90th Pike's Peak race scheduled to take place this Sunday, Audi is teasing what it will bring to the famous race to the clouds. It will be an RS5 coupe, and may be highly modified to enhance safety and performance.

The shared shot doesn't show much more than a more aggressive front fascia with an aerodynamic element and large intakes, casting doubt about whether it will be entered in the actual race or act as a support vehicle of some sort. While the standard RS5 makes 450 horsepower, this version is likely to make much more than that.

Audi started competing at Pike's Peak in 1984, with Michele Mouton behind the wheel of the Audi Sport Quattro. She won the event in 1985, with Bobby Unser winning the event in 1986 in an Audi Sport Quattro S1. That car made nearly 600 horsepower from its turbo inline-five.
