Now likely to become part of the Auto Union brand - which will also include Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, Seat – Audi has mildly revised its famous four-ring logo. Ironically, the four-ring logo once applied only to Auto Union well before Audi was swallowed up by the Volkswagen Group.
The new logo is ever so slightly different from its predecessors, benefiting from a more three-dimensional, chrome-like appearance, and Audi has officially revised its font to a more standardized sans-sarif style placed either below or adjacent to the four rings.
Audi’s new logo appears more photographic than the old design despite apparently keeping the same dimensions throughout.

Its nice to have a refresher every once and a while.
What was the last major logo change? Chrysler going from pentagonal symbol to some weird confusing ribbon with wings?

^ Then back to the pentagonal in late 2007, albeit more modern metal-look.
Also, the Mustang logo change for 2010 MY, I’m suprised eff1Fifty you forgot about that!
Audi’s logo is a good one, and doesn’t offend anyone. I saw the Inglorious Bast@ards last night and it’s always a funnly reminder seeing Mercedes being proudly used by all the high up Nazis.

Jake, Auto Union (Audi) by the time of war consisted of 4 brands: Audi (middle class brand), Horch (high end cars on par with high end Benz), DKW (motorcycle and 2 cylinder wooden cars precursor of VW) and Wanderer also higher end cars (beautiful ragtops). All of them were popular with Nazis, except DKW.

^Yea i think the Mustang is the only other builder with a symbol change. Also, in case you all haven’t noticed, the Camero left the competition flags behind and just went with bold capitalized CAMERO letters.

Makes sense. Perhaps should have even been done sooner. It’s not like they are changing the logo, its just refinement for the times/fashion/trend. I think Toyota should have a go… and Honda!

@Ring-Taxi, add more “points” to that star and soon you’ll have a star-hole, which is where it generally hurts about 6 months after buying one.

Re: AutoCritical,
Toyota changed their logo to the current style in 1992, I believe.
Mazda went through a “logo crisis” in the mid ’90s, going through 4 different logos in about six years.

MAsshole it is obvious that you don’t read Wikipedia (I actually doubt that your ADHD let you concentrate on reading). Take a look ar wiki and compare to what I wrote, combining 2 you may learn something. It takes less then 5 minutes to read.

I’m not really impressed with the new logo.. the previous rings crossed over each other as they intersected on top, and crossed under each other at the lower intersection as if they were 4 unique entities strung together (the four companies of Auto Union perhaps?).. maybe that’s why the new logo simply has the four rings blend into each other on both ends as if they are one piece.. meaning Audi stands alone.
I also really dislike the new typeface, which is much less stylized and unique than before.. almost like they randomly picked a new typeface from the dropdown menu in Microsoft Word! At least it’s still red..

Not a fan. They say they “modernized” the font but that was the original font used back in the 30’s, that was the whole reason for the “unconventional” look. Now it just looks like a normal typed word.

A4- No you aren’t, get out of my state.
I’m sure someone already beat me to this, but they should have taken GM’s approach and gone GREEN.
A green logo saves trees and paper and puppies and co2 and co1 and noX and noS all at once, I guess they missed the memo.

they should do a special edition RED color. Diesel is so much better and it doesn’t make you friends with hippies
