My boss owns a RS6, and while I think that is a great car, this new S6 blows it away, at least with looks.

It’s sweet…I’d love one, even though it’s almost bigger than my house…Furthermore the B&O sound system is absolutely amazing!

Very nice and quite cheap too. But why do they require us to pay for rear airbags. Safety features should be standard in a car that costs that much.

Yea the B&A is truely something else. had the pleasure of listening to it recently – mindblowing. The best part has to be when the speakers rise from the dash tho that takes the cake

B & O is just repackaged Philips internals so they look great but not much else

Audi S and RS performance saloons are so much better than BMWs. Better styling and better interior plus all wheel drive technology to boot.

The reason the rear aribags are optional is that they are considered to be dangerous to small children. So if you have small children you would probably opt to not have them.

Rear side inpact airbags and infant seats do not mix well.

My Boss Owns a S6 Black with slick 18-19″ rims AWD this thing is a awesome car to drive you really got to keep an eye on your speed as she can ramp up on you really fast especially when you have no trafic in front of you! Audi’s AWD is always a treat to drive. Love winter driving or even just wet driving with this slick vehicle. He also has a A4 Convertable okay but I’d take the S6 any day. Beautiful rolling artwork inside & out!

Yeah side air bags should not be ordered if the vehicle will ever have small children or child seats in the back.

It is a lot of money, but really not a bad deal for what you get when you consider the other options.

Now if Audi would just improve my local dealership it would be a perfect deal

No problems with the Audi dealership over here. the S6, S8 are pricey but if you equip a similar Benz or BMW, you may actually have a bargain on the Audi. Car Magazine’s recent comparo between the S6, M5 and E63 proved the Audi is a better value for the money as a whole package.

But isn’t rear bags standard with the 5 series? At least over here they are.

Dr. Evil, I have the A6 3.0 Quattro and I got won’t go faster than 185 KM/hr. Maybe they put a limiter here or something.

Ford has nothing to do with Audi

The B&O sound system for the A8 looks very cool; it even has 2 pop-up tweeters in the front.

I am not sure about the rear airbags on the 5 series. Maybe they meant rear side current airbags that are high enough to not be dangerous.

Zan, exactly the problem I often face when dealing with airbag questions. Some cars combine the top and bottom airbags and got a higher airbag number than the competition when they’re actually covering the same amount of area. But in a business proposal they look a lot safer due to the higher number. I think they should be more specific in specifying the function of the specific airbags.

Lets face it – the A8 is just not that sporty, even with that amazing engine…for over 100k which the S8 costs, I would rather have the OTHER Quattro – the Maserati Quattroporte…I think it encompasses everything an S8 buyer would want, only more of it…for the same money..

…dont get me wrong I love audis and am glad to finally see another high powered A8 variant…

Wow! that’s a flippin’ bargain, I’ll wait for the RS6 and hopefully they put in that beautiful Bang and Olufsen sound system.

There is a rather obvious size difference between the A8 and the QP; as well…they are 2 totally different cars with 2 totally different philosophies. I don’t think the QP is comparable to the A8, but I do think that the S55 is comparable.

Jon, I know they were not meant as competitors but just saying that due to similar price range, they automatically become so. And while having such “different” philosophies etc., what does an S8 buyer really want? A Large, Exclusive, Luxury-based 4-door Sedan with a Sporty edge/focus from a quality-based manufacturer.

Both an S8 and QP fit that bill…I simply feel the QP is more elegant, exclusive, and finished for about the same money…but again dont get me wrong I love the A8 and would take this rawer S8 versus the W12 anyday…but if I was so concerned about the Sport factor, I’d take an RS6 or M5
