I drove Audi Q3 while in training in Germany. I have to say, it trumps the Q5 and Tiguan. 4 adults in comfort, the TDI cruised easily on the Autobahn, and the big roof is really nice. The GPS unit rises up from the dash when needed, but otherwise stays hidden. If they can bring it to the US market for around $30k, they will have a winner.

Hell yes! That's what I'm talking about. Looking forward to this and the BMW X1. Thank you Audi for not being like the rest and saying "fuck you" to the American driver in regards to cool cars we like.

I am looking forward to this. First and foremost, it has the simplest and most functional interior. It looks OK on outside, but we can see that Kia got their man.
Technologically it is very interesting. I do believe that it will do better then 32 mpg: BMW X5 almost 5000lbs AWD diesel bests 24 mpg combined despite 24 highway ratings by all automags reports (and those reporters have lead feet by their own admissions). This is featherweight compare to X5 and has 2/3 of the engine.

I am not sure Audi is missing anything here. Have you seen Lexus RX and Infinity EX & FX? How square are those? How many of them on the roads?
30K is a fantasy, there is a stripper A3 for that money and you can't even find one on the dealer's lot.

What could make this Audi successful are its proportions relative to the A3. Audi didn't make the same mistake again in making a AWD vehicle with a sportwagon roofline. People who buy these want room, even in a smaller package. I doubt it will be under 30K also, but Subaru should be watching this intensely to gauge Audi's success in the lower end AWD market. I truly believe the current Impreza redesign is a step backwards for that car, looking older and less interesting than its predecessor and the Forester is long in the tooth... so then, will they see continued growth or will others like Audi push into their segment?
