Audi releases details on U.S.-spec A4 Avant, Sedan

Audi’s all-new A4 Avant made its world debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but the cargo mover made a rather quiet North American debut at last week’s New York Auto Show. Along with that debut, Audi released some information on the U.S.-bound A4 — including the sedan and the wagon.

The biggest news is that Audi will only offer a four-cylinder engine in the A4 Avant. That engine will be Audi’s tried and true 2.0L turbocharged TFSI unit, tuned to produce 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque — up from the current model’s 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Despite being down a few cylinders, the A4 Avant is said to be able to make the sprint from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

The A4 Sedan will come standard with the Avant’s lone engine choice, but a 3.2L V6 — with 265 horsepower — will also be available.

Audi says “a number of transmission option” will be available for both models, but only listed that both cars will be available with a six-speed manual and that the 3.2 L V6 sedan can be had with a Tiptronic gearbox.

Oddly, Audi’s press release had no mention of a Quattro all-wheel drive system for either car, but it would be hard to imagine Audi not offering its signature technology in its best selling model.

Turbo’s are crap, FWD/AWD is bull****, and the only thing more stupid than an Audi is the people who buy them.

These cars are beautiful and beautifully crafted, so it is a shame that in the European press at least, **** the new A4 is coming in 4th in comparison tests to the BMW 3 Series, M-B C Class and the Ford Mondeo.

I guess I’m a retard howsmydriving.
The A4 avant is the best wagon AND “crossover” on the market. Gets much better mileage than any Lambda and has way more room than the X6, and it can be had with a 6-speed manual, and a turbo four that has received “world engine of the year” multiple times. Yeah, looks like “turbo is” (turbo’s) are crap. You’ve obviously passed the 6th grade with flying colors.

Hows my Driving…Audi has won countless awards for its motors, and its quattro all wheel drive, coming on to the site to get a rise out of people by posting very un-intelligent and clearly sarchastic comments is way out of line!

I am disappointed with Audi for not offering the A Avant with the 3.2 engine. I’ll look at Mercedes next time I shop for a new car.

It’s ok Roger don’t even botherwith him, anyone who says turbos and AWD is bull**** is obviously a huge novice at driving and has not experienced the proper application of either of those technologies. By the way although Audi has a slight tick down in the reliability department as do all German cars at the moment, I still think they make some of the cleanest looking and cleanest performing cars out there, along with being the complete masters of interior design.

Audi’s site does mention that quattro is standard on the Avant:
quattro® permanent four-wheel drive
The A4 Avant is equipped with the latest version of quattro® permanent four-wheel drive. It is a rear-biased system that distributes drive power asymmetrically and dynamically between all four wheels. If one of the wheels is in danger of losing grip, quattro® compensates for this unsteadiness by redistributing the power.

Audi’s are nothing but crap. Cadillac and Buick build a much nicer and infinitely more reliable, quality piece. Audi shouldn;t even be in this Country, they don’t belong here at all.

And as Americans, it is our duty not to support these slimeballs in any way whatsoever. They can just get the flock out of the Country once and for all. This is GM country.

1. they don’t offer a wagon.

2. you want the best AWD, audi has it.

3. If I was over 50, then sign me up for a buick.

4. and as americans, we have the right to choose what we want.

5. you sound like a communist and a military dictator when it comes to cars.
