80k is too much scratch for any version of the nose-heavy A4 platform. It's a nice car, but when you are talking that much money, you are looking at enthusiasts who want something that garners some attention, and I don't see many true car-guys loving this vehicle. You can get a Viper, Z06, Shelby Mustang, SLK55, etc. for the same $$ or less, and they all have more cache than a warmed-over Audi. I love Audis but there is not market here for this particular vehicle. Heck, the R8 won't be much more than that!

this is actually very true, ive only seen 5 rs4's sold in the last year at my dealer so its not smart to bring the cabrio here, plus the S4 cabrio is so bad compared S4 sedan, audi needs a hardtop like someone here said.

some very foolish comments on here. and some sensible ones. i'm here to back up the sensible ones.

when it was time to get a new car, i didn't just look at all the options in a certain price range. i knew what my needs and wants were and that drove my decision. i wanted a luxury sedan. i wanted a very sporting sedan. i wanted a quality interior. AWD (esp quattro) was a plus.

so.... viper? vette? lotus? not even close. great cars, different purpose. new M3 is too far out. old one is great but dated. RS4 is simply the best sports sedan out there right now. hands down. it is NOT in M5/6 price territory. RS4 = 73K loaded, out the door. M5 = 90K loaded out the door. plus it's ugly as shit.

for 60-80K, the RS4 is alone in the market for now. read the reviews again. watch top gear. everyone says the same thing. and after owning it for over 6 months now, and 1000s of miles of CA HWY1, i can assure you this car exceeds expectations for a 75K car, on all fronts.

I still think this is too expensive. This is getter into M5 territory now, and I don't care what you say, it should stay in the M3 territory. The M3 convertible (if they make it), will be faster than this thing and have comparable quality for 15-20k less. Plus, they are direct competitors.

Shame. Man, I love Audi interiors. Nobody does it better than they do (save the upper crust Rolls and Bentleys).

From what I have read, the Audi Cabriolet is not the tidiest of handlers, perhaps the RS4ing of the Cabriolet exacerbates its inabilities. If they bring anything over it should be the wagon.

I would sell my sister to the devil to own an RS4 wagon.

well considering the current RS4 sedan starts at $66k, and the A4 convertible has a $12-14k or so premium over the A4 sedan, $80k sounds about right. I also back up the fact that anyone is an idiot to compare this with a Z06 and a Viper. Two completely different realms. Also, S60, the Ferrari F430 is a "small car" as well, and that costs at minimum $100k more than an RS4, so this is one instance where size does not matter. Just cause your S60 has rear leg room doesnt make it a better buy than a 420hp V8 AWD screamer. If i had $70k, id have an RS4, hands down. Its the most practical, versatile car for the money, for someone without kids.

sedan, the car is expensive but the quality of an Audi RS4 is incomparable. Handles nice as hell, awesome awd system, great response time, fast car, SWEET interior. it is so fukin comfortable. the reason this car is expensive as a Z06, and Viper is because of the attention to detail. I love both the Z06, and the Viper but in a way the are both crappy cars. They have so much potential, they have nice exteriors, but those interiors are ugly as shit. they have nothing on the RS4 when it comes to material quality, comfort and luxury. The RS4 is a great car cuz it is more practical in that you can some were fancy. and honestly i hate the Z06, and the viper as weekend cars, the RS4 is a great weekend car. The RS4 is a great weekend car. Both the Z06 and the Viper are great track cars but so is the RS4.

Sedan, or preferably the Avant.

Where'd this price come from? If it's just converting the euro price into dollars, no wonder it looks high.

I'd take the sedan too, because its probably safer than a convertible soft top. Still, it's not like the sedan has much more space or anything, the RS4 backseat I sat in was tiny.

to A4, what would you rather have? An RS4 sedan or an RS4 convertible, choose. As a matter of fact I'd like to see this whole board choose between them. :)

Why you guys insist on comparing apples and oranges all the time, I don't get.
NOBODY cross shops an RS4 and a freaking Viper! Or a Z06. An RS4 is a high performance luxury AWD sedan. The previous 2 are midlife crisis, uncomfortable sports cars.
S-60,
a BMW 650ci, a comparable priced luxury/performance convertible does 0-60 in 5.5 sec. An RS4 conv. will kill it, while providing AWD versatility. You'd need an M6 to match the Audi, and now your into 110g's or more.
golf4me,
"I don't see any true car guys loving this vehicle"
Really? The RS4 has gotten fantastic reviews from every car magazine on the planet. Yes, it's nose heavy. And 911's are butt heavy. It's also got one of the most fantastic engines ever made, superb build quality, great looks, and incredible versatility(try driving your Viper to go skiiing).

Audi never gives the US the really cool interior color combos. Just check their German site, see how cool an Audi interior can really look

Dumb dumb dumb. I'm sure a lot of people would love to get a droptop RS4. I would too, if the price was less. I agree with all you guys who said the RS4 is stepping out of its territory and into that of the Corvette Z06, 6 Series and Dodge Viper. Only reason I can see to get the RS4 is the sweet interior. I sat in it once, will never forget it. Suede sport seats, carbon fiber trim, stitched leather, was an amazing experience.

Dumb dumb dumb. I’m sure a lot of people would love to get a droptop RS4. I would too, if the price was less. I agree with all you guys who said the RS4 is stepping out of its territory and into that of the Corvette Z06, 6 Series and Dodge Viper. Only reason I can see to get the RS4 is the sweet interior. I sat in it once, will never forget it. Suede sport seats, carbon fiber trim, stitched leather, was an amazing experience.

its riduclous that it will cost nearly 80 grand. Thats in BMW 6-series terriorty. Which its a near-large coupe. Plus, a non-M packaged 6 series with top engine can go below 5 seconds to 60 mph.

RS4 is a frickin' small car!! What a rip-off. BUT its a sweet looking car! Just the price thats insane, IMO.

The convertible version is a tad tacky. The 3 series BMW does a much better of hacking the roof off.

If Audi has any hopes of competing with competing with BMW's M division or Mercedes' AMG division, it would be essential for Audi to bring over the RS4 convertible.
