Spied: Audi S4

Spy photographers have spotted the next-generation Audi S4 while out for testing. Based on the all-new A4 that made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new S4 promises even more performance than the previous model. While the front bumper remains unchanged — a slightly different design is expected soon — a few subtle changes can be seen. Audi’s signature chrome side mirrors found on S models are also absent.

Compared to the A4, the new S4 has bigger wheels and brakes, new side skirts and quad-exhaust. Powering the S4 will be a 354 horsepower V8. Mechanically, the S4 is expected to be identical to the S5.

While I’m generally a fan of the Audi ‘corporate’ look, I really wish they had put more effort into differentiating the new A4/S4 from the previous model, particularly since they went to so much trouble to reconfigure the wheel placement and drivetrain setup to improve handling — why not do something stylistically to highlight that, instead of make it look just like the old one?

I think it’s a car your gonna have to see in the flesh to fully appreciate and see the subtle changes.

Keep in mind too that white doesn’t exactly show the lines in a car so much

Gbilbo is right, no new RS4 yet. theyre are still using the current A4 chassis for it. those rims are tight on that white car though.

You know, I knock Audi quality quite a bit, but almost every day now for the past month I drive by a different broken down Bimmer (late model) smoking, steaming or whatever on the shoulder, so at least Audi builds them better than BleedMyWallet.

Still, I’ve seen too many broken down VWs for comfort also, and they share motor parts with Audi.

Audi has gone mor ein line with trying to seduce MErc and BMW buyers with their new bmw-eque design. They broke away with the B5/B6 design but the newer ones coming out are probably being designed by similiar Design school graduates.

Since the new S4 will be an ‘08 model, a new RS4 in 2010 makes perfect sense

It could have 20 turbo’s and a 250mph top speed, it still is an Audi.
