The S8 is Audi's high-performance version of the A8 luxury sedan. Like the S6, the S8 features a 5.2-liter Lamborghini V10 engine. While the S6 offers 435 hp, the S8 delivers 450 horses.
Peak horsepower arrives at a high-revving 7000 rpm. Peak torque of 398 pound-feet arrives at 3500 rpm. A six-speed Tiptronic automatic is the only available transmission. As one would expect, Quattro all-wheel-drive comes standard.
FSI gasoline direct injection assures superior power output in the S8. This luxury sedan sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and is electronically governed to a top speed of 155 mph.
The driveline and aluminum chassis of the S8 have been modified to suit the engine's power. Like Audi's other "S" models, the S8 features more aggressive suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust systems, and styling. The firmer settings of the adaptive air suspension and a more direct steering ratio provide a more engaging driving experience than the plush A8.
Although the interior remains mostly luxury-oriented, the S8 features slightly sportier seats for spirited driving.
Adaptive light technology, 20-inch wheels, impressive 15.2-inch brakes, and the Multi Media Interface (MMI) all come standard. Radar-controlled adaptive cruise control, sunshades, a powered trunk lid, heated rear seats, a rearview camera, Sirius satellite radio, power door close assist, and full leather are all options.
