Jake you are right. Perhaps the reason is that large number of whites come from Europe. Germans initiated cycles of bloodshed twice last century. Has nothing to do with American Germans (Eisenhower was of German decent), but reality is that all non German families have something to remember. By contrast, on Pacific theater of operations few hundred thousands marines and sailors were killed (if that much) and two nukes were dropped on Japan. Not to mention that we burned all of their cities. For two hundred thousands (if that much) Americans lost in the battles Japan lost over 2 million soldiers and over half a mil civilians. I think we settled that score well. And it wasn’t cars that started Japanese buying spree: 15-20 years ago you could not buy any other make TV in US. What we to do: not to watch Johnny Carson?
