Early look: near-production Audi TT Clubsport quattro

Audi unveiled its TT Clubsport quattro concept just over a year ago at a tuning event in Austria, and it looks as though the speedster concept will be making the transformation from concept to production. Audi has released images of a second version of the car, and it looks even more production-ready than the original.

According to Bernd Rosenbichler, Audi’s marketing director for the Middle East, the production TT Clubsport quattro will only be available in the Middle East. “We are planning on making the worldwide premiere of this car here and then launching it just for the region,” he told Car.

Audi selected the Middle East as the exclusive market for the roadster because the region has very few rainy days and Audi is trying to establish itself as a premium brand in the Middle East.

Powering the TT speedster will be Audi’s familiar 2.0L turbocharged four, making 300 horsepower. That power will be sent through an S tronic gearbox to all for wheels.

Other features will include 19 inch wheels, a body kit and a blacked out grille.

At the end of its press release, Audi says a “small-series production of this model cannot be ruled out”, but Audi has reportedly already green lighted a production run of at least 50 examples.

I’m not sure what the appeal of this car is. It’s sort of feminine and relatively overpriced for a gussied-up Golf. IF we’re talking 50k+, I would rather look at Boxsters and Caymans. (Caymen?)

Is “clubsport” a new derivative of convertible? Maybe “clubsport” with pictured 4 cylinder will go to Arabs and convertible with V6 to us? After all THEY need to save their petrodollars due high cost of gas.

Whoever design this beast did not have sex for months. It’s looks angrier (and scarier) then Tiger VI and ready for blitzkrieg. Perhaps ayatollahs can take on Israel in those.

The windshield is nice and low so the raghead in passenger seat can aim the RPG launcher at something straight ahead without standing up.
