Spied: Audi TT-S prototype

Spy photographers have spotted a prototype for the upcoming TT-S cabriolet making its rounds at the Nürburgring. The TT-S will receive Audi’s signature S front end styling — including a deeper front air-dam and larger front air-intakes — as well as several hard-edges, giving the car a more aggressive look. At the rear, the dual exhaust now gets a twin pipe setup instead of the current car’s single-pipe design.

This second-generation TT is the first to receive a legitimate Audi performance upgrade and should allow the car to compete with the likes of the Porsche Cayman S and BMW Z4.

The TT-S’ powertrain largely remains a mystery, but the car is expected to be powered by a version of the S3’s 2.0L turbo-four and could produce as much as 300 horsepower.

In addition to the TT-S, it is also believed that Audi is working on an even more high-performance TT-RS.

Nothing really to say here. Just a convertible version of an already good car

Yeah… a convertible, more powerful version of an already good car.

This 4 generates as much ponies as Ford’s v-8 and more then the latest GM v-6. it is probably thirsty for 4 cylinders, but less thirsty then V-6 or V-8 and should deliver a good thrill.

I love the new Audi front ends. So much more aggressive than the older, rounder version.

I miss the fact that it will get 4WD. This will be a mini R8.

It’ll have quattro for sure. I think they use the turbo four since it is lighter than the six and has a big whoosh factor.

Its clean and I love the TT but I have to say that this design is a little boring. Audi is doing everything it can to make its other models (A4,A5,A6,A8) look as good as they can get and then they just skimp out on all that with this new TT. Looking at this just makes me want to get a 5 instead.

So with the TTRS coming out does this mean that there will be no R4?

I’m really happy about this model being released. While the chasis of the car is brilliant, the current drivetrain options are kinda bland: the 2.0 isn’t available in a quattro, and the 3.2 isn’t available with a manual transmission… wtf?

The EU should force Porsche AG to divest its share of Audi. Then Audi can proceed with its planned 6 cylinder version of the Audi R8, which was supposed to be an aluminum alloy space frame with a 400+ HP mid-engine and DSG all for less than the price of a base Porsche Cayman (non-S). Now there’s a Porsche Cayman S (and 911) killer.

did anyone notice that on the last picture, the tire pressure was extremely low in both the front and rear tires. The wheels were almost scraping the ground.

Thats because it’s one of only 3 cars (the others being the A8 and R8) that use the full Audi Aluminum Space Frame. Audi really nailed the redesign of this car. Bravo

The top engine will be the 2.5 vw inline 5 thats loosely related to the Rabbit engine,a great engine, with good sound, like a v10.
