Audi stalls all-electric SUV unveiling as CEO sits in jail

The event will be held in the US, rather than Brussels, at a later date.

Audi has reportedly stalled the unveiling event for its first all-electric vehicle.

The company had already invited media to Brussels on August 30 to show the upcoming e-tron SUV. The summit has now been canceled in favor of an event in the US at a later date.

Without directly mentioning the arrest of Audi CEO Rupert Stadler last week, the company has blamed the switch on vague "organizational reasons," according to Financial Times.

"Believe me, it's not just an electric car, it's a starting point for the next quantum leap," Stadler told FT weeks before his arrest.

The company insists the e-tron will arrive on the market before the end of the year.
