Following on the heels of a report that leaked Audi’s future production plans, a leaked document from Audi Poland supposedly reveals the German automaker’s future powertrain plans. Some elements of the document support the previously leaked production plan, while others are being revealed for the first time.
According to the schedule obtained by Audiblog.nl and Autoweek.nl, the all-new Audi A1 will be available with a range of gas and diesel engines when it launches in December 2009. The gasoline engines will include an 86 horsepower 1.2L TSFI — mated to a five-speed manual — a 122 horsepower 1.4L TSFI which can be had with a manual or S-tronic gearbox and a 170 horsepower 1.4L TSFI mated exclusively to Audi’s S-tronic transmission.
The A1’s diesel options will include a 1.6L unit churning out 90 horsepower and a 2.0L unit making 143 and mated to a six-speed manual tranny.
As expected, the Audi S4 will be making the swap from a V8 to a supercharged V6 later this year and will be rated at 333 horsepower. The new S4 will be available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed S-tronic transmission.
The S5 will also be making a similar jump, but not until about mid-year 2010. Just a few months before the V6-powered S5 bows, look for Audi to introduce an RS5 performance model, powered by a 450 horsepower 4.2L V8. The S5 will be available with the same transmission options as the S4, but the RS5 will only be available with an S-tronic unit. A sportback version of the A5 and S5 will also arrive in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
Other interesting tidbits include a 2010 launch for automakers upcoming A7/S7 four-door coupe. Motivation for the 7 line will range from a 204 horsepower 2.8L FSI to a 394 horsepower 4.0L powerplant in the range-topping S7.
The document also confirmed an early 2009 launch for a V10-powered Audi R8, with a Spyder version following later that year.

“204 horsepower 2.8L FSI” Is this 1998? 2.8 liters should put up atleast 230 these days.

So no V10 in RS5?
And supercharged V6 with only 333hp ?
They had 450hp V8 since 2002. On 2004 it was updated to 480hp and now they are talking about 450hp.. this is weak..
Hope its just speculations.
supercharged V6 with 400hp and biturbo V8 with 520hp would be nice..

I think we may have just glimpsed the peak of the HP wars boys. Looks like everything is sliding back down in the name of fuel economy. Buy ‘em while you can!

The RS5 is supposed to be a 3 series competitor and the 3 has no V10, but does have a V8, I think the S5 should get the supercharged V6.

Turbo + Supercharger + DI = less then 100HP per liter
Not impressed at all, too complicated and expensive to not hit any decent benchmarks.

just so you know, those values are PS not HP. the majority of the world went metric years ago

I think they are talking about a naturally asirated version of the 4.2, as used in the R8 and the last RS4, not the turbocharged version used in the last RS6.. 450 PS would mean squeezing another 30 out, that’s not too bad..
Zip: True, the world went metric, but PS is the German equivalent of a horsepower, slight diffeence in measuring, that’s it. The metric unit is Kilowatts (kW)

@Shaver:
TFSI doesn’t mean Turbo and Super. FSI is audi’s version of direct injection. the T stands for turbo. So all it means that it’s a turbocharged, direct-injection engine.

No, what matters is torque, the thing that actually launches a car from stop.

Who cares what the A7 looks like, another “4 door coupe” oooo, there is an original idea, not like every other car company on the planet isn’t working on their own version instead of doing something original.

horsepower doesnt equal PS El Aleman, PS is metric horsepower where 1 HP does not equal 1 PS
